Jeff Lytle, of Monroe, Washington, was arrested for plotting to kill his wife, Rhoda Mee Funtanilla Lytle, and their four-year-old daughter in order to claim $1.5 million in life insurance.
With the intent to finalize the murder plot, Jeff allegedly sent the following text message: “Hey Shayne (how’s) it going. You remember you said that you would help me kill my wife. I’m going to take you up on that offer.”
He also agreed to split the insurance money but then he made one big mistake; the text was sent to his ex-boss instead of the hitman. The message was immediately brought to the police leading to Jeff’s immediate arrest.
When he was interrogated, he downplayed the plot and said it was only meant to ‘vent’ and not to actually murder his family. He also said that his daughter might have sent the text messages.
Jeff is currently detained in Snohomish County jail pending investigation for two counts of criminal solicitation of first-degree murder.
