Completing a bucket list has become a popular thing to do these days but most people would probably not put ‘getting arrested’ on their bucket list – after all, who wants to get arrested?
Well, 102-year-old grandma Edie Simms of South St. Louis, Missouri had ‘getting arrested’ on her bucket list but because she hasn’t actually been arrested, the cops gave her a courtesy call upon learning that she wants to get ‘arrested’. It was surely one of the weirdest arrests they’ve ever done – and it was also probably the most fun!
Because after she was ‘arrested’ by the cops, the cheerful grandma handed out handmade scarves and socks to the officers at the police station.
Simms certainly enjoyed the experience. She laughingly said, “Oh yes, handcuffs and all!” when asked how the arrest went.
St. Louis Police Department Sgt. John McLaughlin revealed, “We’re more than happy to do these type of things. We love it and we get more out of it than the seniors do.”
Of course, they really shouldn’t expect more seniors to ask for the cops to arrest them – for Grandma Simms is truly one of a kind!
As for her message to the cops, Simms said, “Keep going, don’t ever stop whatever it is you’re doing and spend some time doing community service. Sometimes the person you reach out and touch is the only person that they will talk to in a day.”
