A 2-day-old baby was found buried alive in asphalt and rubble between 136th Street and Slater Avenue, in the city of Compton in southern Los Angeles County, California. According to reports on the incident, locals who were driving past the area were surprised to hear a baby’s cries despite not seeing a child on the street.
The cops from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigated the matter and were able to rescue the child who was buried in a crevice along the bike path in the area. It was a good thing that she was rescued immediately – and was just possibly exposed to the elements for a couple of hours.
After investigations conducted by the Special Victims Bureau and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, they were able to identify and apprehend the mother who buried her child alive. She’s now facing charges.
The authorities issued a reminder for parents not to abandon or attempt to kill their own children, if they think they could not raise the kids. Los Angeles County has a “Baby Safe Surrender Program” and urges parents to surrender the baby “at any hospital or fire station in Los Angeles County, no questions asked”.
