Guy With Down Syndrome Breaks Stereotypes, Builds His Successful Six-Figure Sock Business

Ten to 20 years ago, it might have been difficult to believe that a person with Down syndrome could write a book, start a business, become a fashion designer or manage his own restaurant. Today, there are hundreds of people demonstrating everyday their potential and unquestionable skills.

Meet John Cronin, a 21-year-old entrepreneur with Down syndrome from Huntington, New York who doesn’t let disability stop him from reaching his dream of building his own business together with his father.

According to Fox Business, he has built a $1.3-million business selling socks with the company’s mission: Make people happy through socks. John, the co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer of John’s Crazy Socks, said he has a simple business philosophy: “socks, socks, and more socks.” The company is known for its colorful prints and designs – socks that are unique not only for its designs but also for the person who came up with the company.

According to its website, “We seek those socks that will make a difference, that will make you smile or laugh, that will tug at your heart, that will add some zest to your life. We are all about socks that will matter to you, that you will love and cherish.

Mark X. Cronin, the co-founder / president of John’s Crazy Socks and dad of John said, “We are on a mission to spread happiness, and we are spreading that message through socks.”
