A child drowning in the river had found a hero in a groom who was having some photos taken with his bride at a park in Cambridge, Ontario in Canada.
Wedding photographer Darren Hatt caught the moment on camera and posted this on Facebook where, as expected, it went viral. Netizens dub groom Clayton Cook as a ‘Superman’ hero after Darren revealed that the groom jumped into the river even with his suit still on, just to save the little boy’s life.
“A special shout out to last night’s groom Clayton! While I was taking solo pictures of the bride this little guy was pushed into the river behind me by another child. By the time the bride noticed and shouted out, Clayton had already jumped down and brought him to safety.
His quick action saved the little guy who was struggling to swim. Well done sir!”
For Clayton, however, it didn’t seem like a big deal because he was just saving the little boy’s life like anyone in the same situation should do.
“His face was underwater and he was fighting, like he was really fighting. Luckily, he was only a little guy… and I honestly just sort of hopped him up,” Clayton said.
Brittany, the bride, was puzzled at first as to why her husband is in the river.
“I look over and I see Clay in the water and I think, what is he doing?” she wondered.
Upon learning that he saved a boy, Brittany wasn’t surprised. She said that it’s something her Superman husband would really do.
“That’s Clay, like that’s Clay to me. It’s something he would just instinctively do. It was like fate almost, we were meant to be there,” she gushed.
While a number of netizens expressed alarm that the boy and his older sibling were there without adult supervision, everyone is thankful that he was saved by Clayton. Indeed, it was lucky he was there to save the day. What a way to remember their wedding day!
