The once healthy woman now looks like a walking skeleton who could barely move her body because she’s now reduced to skin and bones, quite literally.

In science class, we are taught that though the body’s bones keep the body upright and hold our frame, it is the muscles, tendons, and joints that coordinate movement. Rachel is so thin that her muscles are powerless. Thus, her husband Rod Edmondson had to quit his job so he could care for her 24 hours a day.

Rachel is ready to gain back her weight and combat anorexia but her body is too starved and dehydrated that a sudden influx of calories could kill her. In short, if she eats a cheeseburger at this state, she could die! What a scary thought!

Rachel’s condition is so severe that hospitals where she live in San Clemente, California, have turned her away because she does not meet their minimum weight requirements. Thus, her husband set up a GoFundMe campaign so she can be treated at the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders at the Denver Health Medical Center. Within a month after setting up the campaign they received close to $195,000 – almost 200% of their $100,000 goal.
