One Mom’s Problem Leads to Internet Frenzy: How to Open the Cupboard Without Breaking the Plates?

One mom had a rather difficult dilemma after finding a stack of breakable plates toppled over and pressing against the glass door of a cupboard – how can she open the cupboard without breaking the plates?

For sure, the moment she opens that door, all those plates will come crashing down! So, what should she do?

Well, since she’s not sure how she can solve her problem, she sent a photo to her friend asking him to help but because Tseng Shao-Tsen doesn’t know how to solve it either, he turned to the internet for help! He posted, “[This is] a cupboard that can never be opened.

Many people would soon pitch in and help solve the problem; though many believe that there was nothing that could be done for the plates but to let them fall and, well, just buy new ones!

Let bygones by bygones. Buy some news ones,” one social media user wrote. Many agreed. But is that really the only way to solve this problem?

Thankfully, not everyone was ready to give up. Many suggested various ways for Tseng’s friend to solve the problem.

Some offered hilarious suggestions. Chen Jiangjiang wrote, “Tape the cupboard with scallop tape, then leave it for your grandchildren to deal with; or save it as a future dowry for your daughter.

But many were serious. “Put some thick blankets on the floor before opening the door; or ask someone to hold a blanket with them tightly to catch the falling plates,” wrote Wenli Wang.

Put the cupboard down horizontally, the plate should fall back. The other way is to open it ever so slightly, then use a metal coat hanger to secure the plate at the bottom, at the same time keep sliding the door until the gap is large enough for your hand to fit in, then you can push up the plates with your hands,” Yi-shon Chang wrote. Many also gave a similar advice.

Tseng’s friend followed the last advice and, voila! All the plates were saved from sure destruction! Whew. It’s a good thing the internet was invented…

Cut and replace the upper glass panel. I am sure glass panel is cheaper than the plate.

Obviously you should take the whole cupboard into freefall so they don’t fall out when you open it.

Just open it little by little and get the plate one by one
