What if the aurora borealis (also known as the ‘northern lights’) also occurred in the Philippines? While that is an impossibility at the moment, in some far future it just might occur. By then, of course, we would have been long gone from the Earth – but worry not because Filipino photographer Edwin Martinez brings the northern lights right to the Philippines!
He could not physically bring those awesome dancing lights to the country, of course, but he made something absolutely wonderful: using his own photos from actual aurora borealis and some landmarks in the Philippines, he made the ‘Pinoy northern lights’.
The results of these composite images are astonishing! You’ll certainly be amazed by the appearance of the aurora borealis over Philippine landmarks – and you don’t have to travel all the way to Iceland and other areas of the Northern hemisphere to enjoy these beautiful lights. Of course, this could also have the opposite effect to you – as you might now want to pack your bags to see these beautiful wonders of nature with your own eyes!
All I can say now is that you’ve got to check out these stunning works by Martinez to fully appreciate not just the aurora borealis and these chosen landmarks but also this artist’s incredible talent.
Which of the photos do you like best?
As mentioned, the photos posted above were just made from COMPOSITE images of Martinez’s work. Here are some of the actual snapshots he took from Iceland:
