Kate Hill had a lot of trouble getting pregnant that she and husband Peter finally went to a fertility clinic for help in conceiving a baby. The doctor placed her on hormone therapy.
Thankfully, the hormone therapy worked! Kate was soon pregnant with twins; though the other one was soon declared as non-viable. So, instead of two babies conceived, she was set to give birth to only one.
But it seems that fate really wanted her to give birth to two babies. So, despite already being pregnant, her body ovulated and 10 days later, she got pregnant again! Alright, that’s quite weird and next to impossible because once a woman is pregnant, her body will stop ovulating for at least the next 9 months until she gives birth!
Kate’s second pregnancy within one pregnancy is termed as ‘superfetation’ – and the case is so rare that there are only about 10 documented cases. Her surprised doctor admitted to not having heard of such a situation that he turned to Google for answers!
Due to the uniqueness of the situation, the girls were given two separate due dates and Kate was set to undergo a C-section to ensure that they will be born together; however, defying plans once again, the twins who aren’t twins arrived two days before the set schedule. They had different lengths, sizes, and blood types but both were in good health.
The girls are now 10 months old and continue to be a delight to their parents who couldn’t believe that they were blessed with such miracle babies…
