Living in a farming village in India where infertility is believed to be a curse, couple Daljinder Kaur and Mohinder Singh Gill often felt bad about their situation but they never lost hope that one day they would also have a child of their own to care for and cherish for the rest of their lives.
But who would have thought that it would take them 46 years as a couple before they would finally be blessed with a baby?
In their old age, they saw an advertisement for an IVF clinic and decided to give it a try.
“I first tried to avoid the case because she looked very frail. Then we made her undergo all the tests and once all the results were okay we went ahead,” revealed the doctor, Anurag Bishnoi.
It would take two years before Daljinder finally conceived.
Last April 19, 2016, Daljinder (now 70 years old) gave birth to a baby who was just 4.4 lbs (2 kg) but the child is doing well now.
Daljinder speaks highly of her husband and feels happy that they now have a baby, saying, “God heard our prayers. My life feels complete now. I am looking after the baby all by myself, I feel so full of energy. My husband is also very caring and helps me as much as he can.”
Her 79-year-old husband helps ecstatic, too, though he admitted that they received criticism for their decision. He said, “People say what will happen to the child once we die. But I have full faith in God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent, he will take care of everything.”
