A mom was just out shopping with her baby when the noticed that the 11-month-old child was no longer breathing. In panic, she screamed for help while frantically trying to wake up the child on that Wal-Mart aisle.
Several people rushed to check what was going on but no one knew what to do to save the baby. The manager quickly called 911 but it was apparent that the baby wouldn’t survive without immediate intervention as the medics could take several more minutes to arrive.
Fortunately, 17-year-old Abby Snodgrass was also shopping at that Wal-Mart outlet in Missouri. She was trying on some clothes at the dressing room. Upon hearing the commotion, she hurriedly dressed and also rushed to the spot, realizing that no one there was capable of reviving the baby as they were all just frantically trying to wake it up.
Having had CPR training in school recently, Abby was a bit nervous that she might not be able to do it but she tried anyway.
“The one thing that crossed my mind initially was, ‘What if this doesn’t work?’ And I just had to push it out of my mind and keep going,” she admitted to reporters.
Thankfully, her training paid off and the child breathed after a few minutes! Whew! The child is now safe, thanks to Abby’s help. It was also quite lucky that she was at that spot at the right moment or that child could have died…
