The “Miracle Hug”– The Hug That Turned Around The Life of Twins
Twenty fingers, twenty toes,
two sweet babies with cheeks of rose.
Born on the same day, two gifts from above,
lives entwined, two babies to love.
I have always been fascinated with twins, and sometimes, I wonder what it would be like if I had been born with a twin sister or a twin brother — definitely loads of fun!
While I was browsing the internet for cute picture of twins, I came across this amazing story of twins whose life was turned around because of a miracle hug. This picture makes me emotional every time I see it because it is such a great reminder of how important and crucial human touch is. For some people, hugs are sometimes awkward, for others it is a cultural norm, but hugs are definitely healing and can save lives.
Take for example the case of a premature baby saving her twin by hugging her, showing us the amazing power of a touch of love.
Back in 1995, twins Brielle and Kyrie Jackson were born prematurely at the Medical Center of Central Massachusetts-Memorial. They were born weighing only two pounds at birth and were placed on their own incubators. When they were only three weeks old, one of the twins was struggling to breathe and her oxygen level was starting to drop. Things were not looking good so a nurse tried putting the twins in the same incubator to see if that would make any difference. And thankfully, it did!
