This Sweet Husband Surprised His Wife With 500 Roses to Celebrate Her Last Chemo Treatment

Ever since December 2015, Brad Bousquet’s wife Alissa has been receiving chemotherapy at the Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center in Omaha. Recently, Alissa underwent three surgeries and went in for her last chemo treatment. Brad wanted to do something special to commemorate his wife Alissa’s final chemotherapy session.

A dozen roses simply weren’t enough for his surprise so he raised money and surprised his wife with 500 roses to celebrate her final session of cancer treatment! With the help of their four children and their small yet tight-knit community in Nebraska, Brad decided to plan a very special hospital surprise. Isn’t he the sweetest?

He had an idea — he asked friends to pay ten dollars for a rose, that would go to Alissa and the money would go to cancer research. In conjunction with a local flower shop, he encouraged friends and family and loved ones to order roses and organized that the proceeds of these orders will go to research, particularly breast cancer research. Amazingly, the flower shop received an order of 500 roses, from 170 different families, and a whopping total of $4500 was raised for breast cancer research.

The only challenge to it was to try and reach as many people as possible without social media, because his wife Alissa is a Facebook person. According to him, “The challenge was, trying to reach as many people as possible without social media, because {Alissa} is a Facebook person. So I wrote just one text, a really long text. It was probably obnoxious for people to read. I sent that to twenty friends and they sent it to twenty friends.”

Did you think he was able to do the surprise? Hit the play button and find out!

Afterwards, the Bousquets, hoping to pay it forward, gave out all the flowers to other patients, and the staff in the cancer center.

According to Brad, “After presenting the rose baskets to my wife we shared them with the other cancer patients receiving treatment today as a gift from our family. The joy of sharing these roses with the other cancer patients was one of my favorite parts. Many had tears as they read the card I wrote for them.”

Aren’t they amazing? Share their inspiring story!
