Walnut is an 18-year old dog that is already in his ‘last legs’. His health has already deteriorated so the owner, Mark Woods, decided to end the misery and put him to sleep.
Mark Woods has been with Walnut for quite a lot of years so he decided to make Walnut’s last day, a moment to remember. He made an appeal in Facebook requesting dog owners to join him for Walnut’s last walk in his favorite beach (Porth Beach, Newquay, England). His post quickly went viral and the story even made it to the national television.
It was definitely a last walk to remember when hundreds of people (and dogs) answered Mark Woods’ call. Some who were unable to go to Newquay just conducted their own dog strolls on the same schedule to support Walnut’s last walk.
Shortly after the event, Woods confirmed that Walnut died at 11:56 AM. He thanked everyone who supported his cause and considered it as something he will never forget.
“Thank you to the hundreds of people that attended this walk this morning and to all those that had their own walks with their beloved pets at 9.30 am all around the world,” he said.
“I also want to thank the wonderful people of Newquay for their support which I will never forget as long as I live. God bless you all.”
