WATCH: Dog Couldn’t Contain Happiness Upon Seeing Family at Shelter… But They’re There to Get a New Dog!

A family arrived at the Downey Animal Care Center in California, USA – and it was soon apparent that one of the dogs there, a 2-year-old German shepherd was theirs! The volunteers had earlier named the dog Zuzu when she was taken to the shelter by a concerned couple who found her in their yard.

Upon seeing the family, Zuzu began jumping around and wagging her tail so furiously that this was surely a very happy reaction to finally being found! The family put their fingers through the fence to pet her and she was reacting so happily. It was truly great to be found.

But when the shelter volunteers were getting ready to release Zuzu to the family, they refused to take her saying they had actually come for another dog!

They told the volunteers that Zuzu had been their old dog’s daughter but when her father died, she became ‘depressed’ and wouldn’t stop howling and ‘crying’.

One of the volunteers at the shelter was shocked at what the family said.

Doing Dog Intros we got inurrupted by a distracted and overly excited Zuzu. With her fast wagging tail seeing her owners Zuzu lite up like a Christmas Tree. She looked like the happiest dog. Yeah, she’s going home. But No. Talking to her owners they told me they were not here to reclaim her, they were getting another dog,” Desi Lara wrote on Facebook as she shared the heartbreaking video.

Zuzu’s father another GSD had just passed away and Zuzu was crying and heartbroken. She escaped her family’s yard and hopped the wall and got into her neighbor’s yard. The unhappy neighbor called Animal control and she ended up here. And her owners were going to let her stay here,” she added.

She also angrily wrote, “Their reason was because she was crying and sad since her father passed away. She wasn’t a happy dog anymore. Their solution for her unhappiness was just leaving her here! And go get another dog. Glad she’s here now. That’s not love for her.

People on the internet were angry at the family and hope they would be banned from owning another dog for life as these pets could end up like Zuzu.

What can you say about this?

Update:

We would like to report the happy ending that a rescue has agreed to take Zuzu and she will be leaving Downey on Friday, which is the first day that she is legally allowed to be adopted. 😀

She was re-named Zuzu! After the daughter in the movie It’s a Wonderful Life. Why, because we are going to post, tag and share her and give her a New life. A wonderful life!

Notes: She’s good with dogs and kids.

We adore her. Her Shelter Me Profile will be up soon.

Let’s give her a Wonderful Life! 😍 Let’s get her into the perfect home please.

Disgusting people like them must not given a chance to have pets! they are horrible!

  • R-U-1-2?

any pet becomes part of the family and will feel emotional attachment to them but changing a pet for another is like treating them like a car or new mobile phone getting a upgrade everything seems to be disposable these days, I agree they should not get another dog otherwise they will do it again

I’ll get zuzu instead! I feel her! It’s so sad! I can’t help but cry reading something like this. How could they endure this? Too bad I don’t live there.
