Summer is the best time to travel and have a great vacation getaway with family and friends but one thrill-seeker got more than what she bargained for when she tried bungee jumping but nearly died because the rope was too long!
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the woman could be seen posing on top of the railing at La Negra bridge in the province of Florida, Bolivia.
The spot is popular for bungee jumping. After the necessary safety checks were done, the woman was instructed by staff of Andean Trek, the company that organized the trip, to jump.
Excited for what is to come, the smiling woman turned around to face the water and jumped. Much to the spectators’ horror, she did not stop midway; instead, she slammed into the shallow river below! It seems that the rope was too long for that jump.
It was clear from the video that the woman was in terrible condition; thankfully, someone was down at the river to help her out or she could have drowned as she could not move. She was rushed to the hospital and was found to be suffering from minor injuries.
“The lady jumped from a 15m bridge. The company is paying the medical bills. She does not have fractures, according to the initial diagnosis, but we are awaiting further tests,” said Andean Trek director Oscar Sandoval.
[The accident] was a human mistake. Somebody did something wrong. We are checking the videos in order to know who or what released the brake of the rope.
It is the first time something like this has happened to us; we have a lot of years of experience.
The unnamed woman was discharged a few days later.
It was truly an accident but the incident has made us feel a little apprehensive at doing extreme sports activities like this one…
