It is sad, really, that everyone has to die at some point. We don’t know when our time will be up but we can still choose to live our lives fully until the day comes.
That’s what happened to Heather Mosher who chose to stay positive despite knowing that her time was running out really fast.
Heather met David Mosher in 2015 and the two were quickly ‘inseparable’ afterwards. They would soon become a couple.
But their happy lives would turn upside down when Heather was diagnosed with cancer on December 23, 2016. It was a devastating moment so close to Christmas but the diagnosis did not scare David off. Instead, he decided to propose to her on that very day, not just to prove his love but to also let her know he’d be sticking with her no matter what happens.
“She didn’t know I was going to propose that night, but I said to myself, she needs to know she’s not going to go down this road alone,” David said.
It was a bittersweet day for the couple.
But Heather’s health quickly declined. She was diagnosed with a triple negative cancer just 5 days later. This form of cancer was more aggressive than others; she was given just a few months to live.
The doctors were right. The cancer was so aggressive that by September 2017, it had spread so much that Heather required a breathing tube. She was placed on life support and doctors told the family she might not live past October but she defied the dire prediction.
Knowing fully well that Heather could die anytime soon, David decided to get on with the marriage. Heather was excited, of course.
She also acknowledged that she was dying but she didn’t want to dwell on that morbid thought. Instead, she enjoyed planning her wedding.
At first, they set the date to December 30 but her health continued to rapidly decline that they decided to hold the ceremony on December 22.
According to bridesmaid and photographer Christina Lee, her friend was radiant as she married her sweetheart. Christina admitted she found it difficult to raise her camera to take the photos but also knew she had to do it because Heather’s time is nearly up. These would be her last photos and she wants it to be beautiful.
Despite being on her hospital bed, Heather looked gorgeous and appeared to be in a very happy mood. She was truly celebrating her wedding with the guy she loves.
But fate is cruel. After saying her wedding vows, she was taken back to her room due to breathing difficulties. She and David had the traditional cake slicing ceremony on her hospital bed.
Sadly, hours later Heather died.
A grieving Christina posted the photos and wrote a heartfelt tribute to her friend.
“Heather chose to spend her last hours celebrating surrounded by people she loved and who loved her. How do I know God is real? Because He was filling her with joy despite the fact that outwardly her body was failing. She chose to let God carry her, instead of wasting her last hours angry at him for allowing this illness. And carry her he did. He carried her home.”
