Some of us have pet dogs who have been with us for most of our lives. They were there to witness us mature and build our career just as we have witnessed them grow and sometimes, have a family. In most cases, dogs do not only become a man’s best friend but also part of the family.

This is the story of 23-year-old Chinese entrepreneur Li Xiaoling and her pet Hu Hu. Li recently lost Hu Hu to a disease and the loss has affected her so much because the 10-year-old Golden Retriever was with her for eight years.

The owner said she loved Hu Hu so much that she has already pictured her dog attending her wedding and the only way she can make this possible now is to have Hu Hu cloned. This is one of the many reasons why she decided to have her pet duplicated by a cloning company based in Beijing.

Reports estimate the cost to be around £41,000 or more than $53,000.

“I was very attached because she was my companion and she gave me so much comfort in my life. So although it is expensive, she is worth it,” Li was quoted as saying. Even before Hu Hu left her owner, they have already collected her cells with the help of a veterinarian in Taiyuan.
