“We found total carnage; donuts scattered along the curb and into gutter- THE GUTTER, people,” p0lice described the scene on their Facebook page.

They added that while they immediately responded to the call, it was just really impossible for them to beat the five-second rule.

“We are deeply saddened to report that the donuts were a total loss. As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time, and the senseless loss of these delicious pastries has deeply affected all of our officers,” the post also read. “We ask that you keep our department in your thoughts and prayers as we m0urn this terrible moment.”

The post caught the attention of Facebook users who appreciated the humor, with some even sending over donuts in “sympathy” for the police department’s “loss.” Gainesville Police Department sent them two dozens of donuts with a message “Sorry for your loss. Hope this helps.”
