Couple Celebrates 60th Anniversary with Sweet Wedding-Themed Photoshoot

Adorable photos taken during the wedding-themed photoshoot for a couple’s 60th anniversary went viral, with so many netizens wishing they could find this kind of love that lasts forever – because even after 60 years of marriage, these two are clearly still very much in love!

George and Vivian “Ginger” Brown of South Carolina became social media’s latest darlings after their granddaughter, a professional photographer, gifted them with a photoshoot.

Whirlwind Romance

The couple first met at a diner on June 2, 1958 when a waitressed asked Ginger and a female friend if they could share a table with two other diners as the place was packed at the time. The two turned out to be George and a coworker.

They didn’t really talk during that meal, simply enjoying their respective meals and talking with their own companions.

Some months later, the two met again at a traffic stop – and George honked his horn at Ginger, waving from the car right next to hers when she turned her head. Ginger couldn’t even recall his name but her smile that day would linger on her mind.

A month later, Ginger was out at the fair with friends when she ran into her brother and George; the two turned out to be former schoolmates. Later that week, George visited their home along with her brother and sister-in-law. They invited her for a double date – and the rest was history, as they say.

60th Wedding Anniversary

But the whirlwind romance connected two soulmates because their marriage lasted forever. Fast forward to 60 years later, they are still so in love with other. Such was evident in the sweet smiles and hugs they gave each other, even without their granddaughter’s prodding as they did the photoshoot.

The couple’s granddaughter Abigail Lydick planned the surprise photoshoot upon learning that her grandparents were going to visit her and other relatives in Allentown, New Jersey.

Finding the couple’s wedding photos, she sent a copy to a bridal boutique to help find something that looked similar for her grandmother to wear on the photoshoot. With the help of suppliers that she regularly work with, she got a beautiful bouquet for her grandmother. Then, she got Grandma Ginger dolled up with the help of professional hair and makeup artists.

Abigail’s husband, Andy, helped with Grandpa George’s wardrobe.

While Grandma Ginger was a little nervous, they didn’t really need much coaching for the photoshoot. They spent the day having fun – and Abigail said she felt so lucky to have witnessed this much love between her grandparents.

Our goal with photography with anyone is to be able to have real human interaction and show off the love they have between them, which is exactly what they did. Being there to witness them cracking jokes with each other and holding each other was even more special as their granddaughter,” Abigail said.

When she asked what’s their secret to a long-lasting, loving marriage, her grandfather replied that both should “put in 100% instead of both putting in just 50%”.

Marriage is such hard work and just because you go through something really hard doesn’t taint it. It makes you stronger, and you’re still able to celebrate all those good things,” he added.

Wonderful words of wisdom, indeed!
