Dedicated Teacher Earns Draws ‘Computer Screenshots’ to Teach Students at Poor School in Ghana

Owura Kwadwo Hottish teaches in a school in Ghana so poor they can’t afford to buy a computer but because he wants his students to still learn about modern technology and be ‘updated’ somewhat with the times; thus, even if it meant extra work for him, he draws ‘computer screenshots’ on the board.

Teaching of ICT in Ghana’s school is very funny. ICT on the board paa. I love (my) students so have to do (what) will make them understand (what) am teaching.

By ICT, Kwadwo meant “Information and communications technology”.

In a post that has gone viral on social media, the teacher drew a ‘screenshot’ of an MS Word window. It must have taken him at least a couple of hours to complete the drawing but Kwadwo does not mind, saying he’s willing to do anything for his students.

For his dedication, he earned the internet’s admiration. Many people praised Kwadwo for his drawing, saying he did a fine job at helping these students.

Others suggested that he should just print out handouts to give his students or use a projection but the likelihood of those materials being available to him is actually low. He’s really just making use of his talent to teach his students.

While there were some who commented that it was a waste of time for him to make these drawings when his students won’t likely be able to use a real computer in the near future, most were still happy that he is at least doing something to let these kids learn something that is quite commonly used in the rest of the world.

What do you think of his teaching methods? Useful and innovative or is he just wasting his time?
