- Retired NBA player Dwyane Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union posted a family picture on Thanksgiving
- However, what Instagram users noticed were 12-year-old Zion’s outfit and nails
- Wade said that as a parent, his goal is to make sure that his children know that he loves them
NBA legend Dwyane Wade took to Twitter to air his side on the negative comments being thrown at him for letting his son wear crop top and fake nails.
On Thanksgiving Day, Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union posted a family picture on Instagram expressing how grateful she is for friends and family. “Happy Thanksgiving, good people. To all the friends and family that have my back and all the friends and family I’ve never met who show love and support when everyone is looking and when no one is looking…All praise, gratitude and thankfulness,” she said.
But what commenters noticed was 12-year-old Zion’s OOTD matched with long nails. One Instagram user said, “The nails [are] a little extreme. Y’all let this go too far and he is just a kid.” Another agreed, saying, “Beautiful family, Happy Thanksgiving, but please…don’t let that boy dress up like a whole woman. What is with our men being feminine and now our people are condoning this…c’mon Wade Family.”
The former Miami Heat player aired his side on Twitter. “I’ve seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo…But here is the thing—I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love, & a smile,” he said.
He also retweeted a Twitter user who tagged him and his wife. It reads: Idk if @DwyaneWade & @itsgabrielleu know how POWERFUL and MOVING it is that they are embracing their son’s individuality.
Wade replied and said that “As a parent my only goal is that my kids feel that I see them, love them and support them.”
