An area family in Langdon who wish to remain anonymous promised to match all donations to the Fall Mountain Food Shelf — for a dollar per dollar, up to $10,000.
Sentinel Source revealed that the campaign began on March 1 and only those that were donated until April 30 will be matched by the benefactors.
The good Samaritans offer the matching of donations three times a year, and matches a total of up to $30,000 annually. It was likewise disclosed that they have been doing the good cause for at least eight years.
Fall Mountain Food Shelf, along with Friendly Meals, is a program of the Fall Mountain Friendly Meals organization, which drives benefits food shelf, funds purchase of foods, and gives the organization to have a wider option and provide higher quality foods and vegetables.
Mary Lou Huffling, the director and co-founder, said: “It’s especially good to have the money to buy protein, because meat and eggs are expensive.”
She added that later in 2018, the donation matches will be on the Friendly Meals program which aims to provide quality meals to those in need. She emphasized the increasing need of elderly residents using the food shelf.
