Groom-to-Be Paralyzed from the Neck Down in Accident at Stag Party, Has 1% Chance of Walking Again

To celebrate their upcoming wedding, Brett Greenhill and Meg Alexander threw a joint bachelor/bachelorette party and invited their friends and loved ones to have fun with them at a resort in Naples, Florida but the fun-filled activity turned into a tragic moment when Brett suffered an accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down!

According to various accounts of the incident, Brett was playing football with friends when the bunch decided to swim. Unfortunately, the groom-to-be hit his head on the sandbar and had to be pulled out of the water.

I can’t feel anything. Meg, I love you so much and I’m so sorry. I love you so much,” were the last full words he was able to tell his fiancée before he was taken to the hospital. He would soon lose the ability to speak; though he can communicate now by going through the letters of the alphabet to spell out what he wants to say to anyone.

His first words after coming out of the ICU were “I love you” to Meg and “Please be patient with me.

They were told that he only had 1% chance of being able to walk again – and he probably wouldn’t be able to talk again, too, but Meg and his family are holding on to that little bit of hope.

Meg said, “We’re holding on to that 1 percent because if anyone will do it, it’s Brett. He’s the hardest-working person you could ever imagine.

Despite what happened to Brett, Meg’s not giving up on him, either. She said, “We are going to get married someday, and it’s going to be amazing. Plans changed a little but we’ll get there someday.

A Go Fund Me campaign was set up for Brett to help defray the medical expenses incurred — and it has now received about half of its $250k goal.
