He’s poor and homeless but his financial condition didn’t stop from Steve from saving and adopting stray dogs. When animal lovers learned about his situation, they did not hesitate to help him out.
But things didn’t go well for Steve who has been homeless since 2001. He began adopting stray dogs a few years later, picking up a few more as the years passed.
One day, while Steve was biking at a highway in Arkansas along with his dogs to visit his girlfriend in Indiana, over 500 miles away, he was spotted by Alicia and her mother. Also an animal lover, Alicia stopped when she noticed that the old man was struggling with the weight of the makeshift cart he was pulling on his bike.
The cart had 10 dogs in it. Steve told Alicia his situation, admitting that he had been biking for hundreds of miles already and had planned to stopover someplace nearby to rest and feed his dogs.
His plight touched Alicia who offered him a place to stay while she called on other animal lovers to help the old man. Within 2 hours, help arrived. Someone offered to drive Steve and his dogs to Indiana while a lot of people offered to give him food and money.
Soon, a GoFundMe campaign was set up for Steve and his dogs. Within weeks, the $10,000 goal was surpassed; the campaign received over $35,000. A lot of people were impressed that the homeless old man was willing to give up what money he had for himself so he could adopt these stray dogs.
With the money from the campaign, Steve was able to have his dogs neutered and spayed. He and he dogs also received further medical attention.
So they won’t be homeless again, the animal lovers also got him a trailer which he could drive around. For sure, he’s going to adopt more dogs now that he has more space for them in his new home…
Kudos to this poor old man with a rich heart!
