With an elevation of over 3,000 meters above sea level, fighting a massive forest fire at Mt. Apo, the highest peak in the Philippines, was definitely one of the toughest jobs a firefighter could face but despite the odds working against their favor, the guys in this photo proved that nothing is impossible if you work hard to achieve your goal:
The photo was shared on Facebook by Darrell Blatchley who wrote, “Fire Killers. You finished the race. It was an honor defending Mt. Apo with you.”
It is amazing how these men risked their lives to save the mountain so as to save the people and the animals living in the area.
Of course, this does not change the fact that several hectares of forest cover have been burned to the ground but we nevertheless thank these heroes for their courage in putting out the fire that seemed impossible to contain what with the mountain’s high altitude and the lack of water in the area due to the severe drought the country is experiencing from the El Niño phenomenon.
Kudos to you, courageous firefighters and fire volunteers!
