A young man from Colorado could be considered either the luckiest man on earth or the unluckiest.
Dylan McWilliams, who is from Grand Junction, a city in Colorado’s Western Slope region, said he was bitten by a shark, a bear, and a rattlesnake – all in less than four years.
“I don’t know, I think [I’m] m just lucky in unlucky situations,” said the 20-year old from Grand Junction on Sunday via 9News.
McWilliams is currently in Hawaii, for what was supposed to be a two-week long vacation full of beach time and surfing. On Thursday, he said he paddled out into the waters off the south shore of Kauai, then something hit his leg.
“I was looking around and saw a lot of blood and I saw a shark underneath me,” he said. “I started kicking at it… and swam as fast as I can to shore”; adding that swimming back was the scariest part as there was blood behind him and he had no idea where the shark was.
McWilliams suffered deep cuts to his leg, but the injury wasn’t life-threatening. He was rushed to the hospital where he was eventually stitched up.
“My parents are grateful I’m still alive,” he reportedly said.
