A woman’s post about a McDonald’s “Happy Meal” went viral after she revealed that the fresh-looking meal was actually 6 years old!
According to Jennifer Lovdahl of Anchorage, Alaska, she bought the meal in 2010 as an experiment. Six years later, the meal has not decomposed even when the tape receipt and the box have already begun to disintegrate.
“It’s been 6 years since I bought this “Happy Meal” at McDonald’s. It’s been sitting at our office this whole time and has not rotted, molded, or decomposed at all!!! It smells only of cardboard. We did this experiment to show our patients how unhealthy this “food” is. Especially for our growing children!!” she posted. “There are so many chemicals in this food! Choose real food! Apples, bananas, carrots, celery….those are real fast food.”
While there were many who expressed disgust over the post, there were also those who debunked the claim saying that the meal did not decompose because it had lots of chemicals as Lovdahl claimed but because it dried out – and dehydrated food (such as beef jerky, raisins, and rice when stored dry/uncooked) can be preserved for many years if stored in the right conditions.
So, what do you think of this “forever” meal?
