The groom, Folarin Alakija, is the son of Nigerian oil billionaire Folorunso Alakija. He married Nazanin Jafarian Ghaissarifar, an Iranian model.
They met through a mutual friend while studying in London where Folarin was a businessman and Nazanin has a degree in genetic engineering and biomedical engineering from the University of Manchester in United Kingdom. They were engaged for a year before they decided to tie the knot.
The mother of Folarin, Folorunso Alakija, was considered as one of the richest women in the world with a net worth of $1.68 billion. She was the Vice Chair of a Nigerian oil company, Famfa Oil. Perhaps by now, you have an idea why this wedding had gone sky-high! And their photos clearly say so.
The wedding took place in the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England. The big venue was swarming with 1 million white roses from its hanging installations including the walls which were from the creative minds of the celebrity florist Jeff Leatham.
Their 12-feet tall wedding cake was also covered with white flowers made by Luxury designer, Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium.
How about the wedding gown of the bride? Nazanin was dressed up in a stunning strapless ball gown style during the ceremony with the bridesmaids wearing same colored one-shoulder gown to match it up.
For the reception, she wore a long-sleeved gown embellished with lace appliques.
The wedding event was in a fairy-tale theme and to make it complete, guests were treated to a lavish 5-course menu comprised of foie grass, beef and sole with choices of crispy duck egg and guinea fowl.
They were also serenaded with a surprise performance by Robin Thicke followed by fireworks that concluded the splendid evening.
