Thai Beauty Queen Rushes Home to Honor Trash Scavenger Mom after Winning Pageant

Growing up as a trash scavenger, 17-year-old Khanittha Phasaeng knew how difficult life had been for her mother who singlehandedly raised her with money earned from the garbage they both collected. Their impoverished lifestyle did not prevent her mom from sending her to school.

The talented beauty overcame their hardships and was selected to join Miss Uncensored News Thailand 2015 beauty pageant. As fate would have it, Khanittha won the crown! Still, she wouldn’t have won the crown if she was not able to join the contest in the first place. Thus, right after winning the beauty title, Khanittha rushed back to her hometown to find her mother.

Khanittha was photographed wearing her crown and sash while she bowed to the ground to honor her mother, as was the custom in Thailand and other Asian countries. It was a gesture filled with love and pride yet also of humility for Khanittha knew she owed everything to her mother.

The gesture touched millions of hearts across the world, especially because Khanittha readily admitted to having lived most of her life as a scavenger. She had no qualms at helping her mother sort through garbage even after she won the crown, endearing her even more to netizens who were amazed at her humility.

Many of these people commend her actions, saying she is beautiful inside and out. A lot were also pleased that among her first plans of action was to visit and honor her mother, something that netizens believe is a must for all children but often forgotten in today’s busy life. Moreover, it was incredible that Khanittha was never ashamed of her past and her mother, even when the latter chose to stay as a trash scavenger despite her daughter’s newfound fame and success.
