Traffic Enforcer Praised for Enduring Flood to Direct Traffic Even in the Rain

Netizens have expressed both praise and worry for a traffic enforcer who endured the flood to direct traffic even under the rain to ensure that motorists won’t be stuck in traffic under this watch.

Identified as Gilbert Bautista, the traffic enforcer from the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau was seen standing at the middle of the road, directing traffic even at the flooded area along Taft Avenue in Malate, Manila.

Laurice Gel Mariano happened to be passing by the area and noticed the admirable traffic enforcer. She snapped a photo and shared this on her Facebook account.

Salute to this traffic officer. Kahit malakas ang ulan at baha, he’s still doing his job,” she captioned the photo.

Just like Laurice, netizens were impressed over this traffic enforcer who could have easily left his post and taken shelter from the rain, yet he chose to stick to his job even if it is possible he might get sick after being soaked in the rain and the flooded waters.

Sana may mga indivual raincoat at boots ang lahat ng MTPB like kuya para in case na may ganitong sitwasyon may magagamit sila. Hirap magkasakit lalo’t sila lang inaasahn ng pamilya nila,” commented netizen Drexlene Joie Atienza.

Many netizens agreed with this, saying that the City of Manila should provide these much-needed rain gear to the traffic enforcers so they wouldn’t have to be soaked in the rain and flood while doing their jobs.

The photos would soon reach social media-savvy Mayor Isko Moreno who also expressed praise for the traffic enforcer.

Thank you Traffic Enforcer Gilbert Bautista, May God guide and keep you safe!” the mayor wrote.

Aside from praising the traffic enforcer on his weekly “The Capital Report”, the mayor also promised to provide them with raincoats and boots, but pointed out this might take a little while to implement as the city still needs to undergo the process of acquisition to get these much-needed stuff.
