“Kuya (big brother) is here. Everything is ok,” were the comforting words spoken by 3-year-old William Blanksby to his little brother, Thomas, who is dying of ****** – and the bittersweet moment was captured on camera by their worried mother.
The 3-month-old baby was diagnosed with terminal ****** when he was 11 weeks old. Naturally, the family who are from in Perth, Australia were distraught about the diagnosis but because they can’t do anything about it, they decided to make the most of Thomas’ time with them by going on vacations and making as many memories as possible.
Their friends even set up a GoFundMe campaign to help the family deal with the medical expenses as well as enjoy their remaining time with Thomas. To date, the campaign has surpassed its $20k goal, having received over $37,600 in donations!
According to Sheryl Blanksby who blogs under the name “Ms. Chikee”, the family was on a holiday, away from their home when she captured the beautiful moment.
She was in the bathroom while her husband was in the kitchen when she realized that the children were unusually quiet. As every parent knows, when the kids are quiet, they could be up to something naughty!
Expecting little Thomas to be covered in Nutella or something strange, Sheryl had the camera ready but was surprised to see the boys ‘talking’. In a hushed voice, William was telling Thomas, “Kuya (big brother) is here. Everything is ok.”
#Throwback to when we were on our holiday. I was getting ready in the bathroom and husband was in the kitchen. The kids were quiet, especially Mr preschooler. You know the rules about when kids are quiet. I tiptoed to the lounge with my camera ready to catch anything they are doing. I was expecting my baby to be covered in Nutella or something but instead I saw this. My preschooler is telling his baby brother “Kuya (big brother) is here. Everything is ok”. #myboys #bestbigbrother #documentinglittlemoments #mybabyloves #myheartandsoul #luckymummy
Indeed, it was a beautiful moment… While Thomas’ time with the family is about to end, it is great to know that his big brother loves him so much!
Blanksby wrote, “Watching my two sons together is a dream come true. Being a family of four has always been part of my day dreams. It’s now my reality and it’s trapped in this nightmare no family should be in.”
Life is unfair but it is moments like this that remind us life is still so beautiful…
